1. How
do I send a song?
We receive nearly all songs
via email address. You send your songs to the appropriate reviewer that hears
your language, or you send the songs to our major reviewer, who then helps you
to forward your songs to the appropriate reviewer.
2. How
many songs can I send in total?
It depends on how many songs
you wish to send. We can receive as many songs are in your album or the whole
album itself; but that goes with a fixed price of 14 usd. We allow and can
receive a minimum of 2-4 songs for the single package, while 5 – 20 songs for
the album package.
3. How
do I pay?
You can pay through any of our payment
methods, which are Bank transfer, Pay pal e.t.c. check our payment method for
more details.
4. Why
do we pay?
We receive an enormous
amount or number of songs sent to us on a daily basis; both songs that are
worth being sent, and songs that are worth not being sent. We stick to the
policy of pay per a given number of songs, to reduce the number of trashy songs
an artist sends, making him or her select the best of them all. And because we
review songs of both upcoming and professional act, we receive more request
than normal…this requests can only come for a prize.
5. Why
should we add photos, details and Biographies?
We would love to think you want to be
promoted if you are ranked. Promotion with only a song isn’t the right way;
promotion with a face and a story to tell is key to an artist success.
Before we listen to your songs, we would
love to know who we are listening to and have an idea who you are.
6. What
type of song, picture should I send?
The Marsh Up home of arts is ready to
listen to any form of musicals; be it a symphony, or a soundtrack, or just
instrumentals to show your musical skills, and of course, songs itself. We have
and would continue to make room for any form of music in Africa, and place them
in their various best categories.
We cannot afford to implant a grotesque
or ugly looking picture or photo in our site or even the sites of our
subsidiaries. We would love a song cover, an album art or cover…we would love a
beautified musical piece of art.
7. What ways do Marsh Up promote an artist?
Promotion isn’t our basic factor of
work. We are not an artist manager or the artist and repertoire of a record
company or label; but our music rankings (Chart), review and criticism, show
cover and press release/artist news and advertisement - is a vital means to
push an artist forward.
We would focus on artist that makes the
charts, and would look forward to making the world know them, spreading our
news and reviews all over the continent.
The consistency of an artist is a
fundamental factor that could lead to heavy promotional activities by us.
Please note, that we don’t get paid to
promote an act, and we wouldn’t act as a promotional company, but instead focus
on our rankings, reviews, news and more, even though by these ways can an
artist be promoted.
8. Can
we cover a musical show?
Yes, shows and events are
part of the music industry. We wouldn’t leave that part untouched, for the fact
that it is one of the easiest ways to get original contents as news, and a
great way to promote an artist.
We receive a high number of requests
to cover shows and events, due to the fact that Marsh Up remains a continental
organization. We accept to cover shows all over Africa, and sometimes outside
Africa to wherever our African acts would be.
Though because of the high
number of shows and events requests we get, we are choosy on which once to
attend, but always make it to the best of them all.
9. How
can I inform you to cover a show/event?
Shows/events/awards requests can be
mailed to us. Check our contact us on shows/events/awards requests.
Remember to send mails with your
language tag.
10.
What if I pay and my songs are not reviewed?
Your payment makes it sure for your
songs to be reviewed, but your payment isn’t a yardstick for your songs being
ranked. Your songs has to stand out, or be the best or one of the best to be
ranked by us.
11.
Can I keep sending the same song over and
over again?
No. If we have heard your
song and it didn’t make it to the ranks, the only means of it making it to the
ranks next time is by change of category. That can only happen if your song
that didn’t make it in the best genre category gets popular as a soundtrack or
gets popular as a hit song in the coming weeks or month. We could hereby change
the category of the song to best soundtrack, or Hot 50, hoping it could make it
there.
This means after a song has
been reviewed and failed to make the chart, we still check the promotional
movement of the song, done by another party and could return back to the song
later on. But the validity period of a song is 6 months.
12
What if my song is being rejected for not
being properly mixed, can I resend after properly mixing?
Yes. If we report to an act his or her
progress of its work on our hands as been unprofessional due to a given reason
like mix. We could accept the same song but the artist will repay for the
resending of the song.
If the song is good, and chosen to be
ranked, but a song cover or a great artist musical art (picture) is the reason
we stall in ranking the songs, we could wait for the artist to resend a song
cover or picture…because we are not re-listening to the song, and
re-criticizing its strength and weaknesses, we would accept anything else but
the song for free.
13.
Can a song stay up the chart for a long
period of time?
Yes, a song can stay up the
chart for a long period of time, increase or decrease in the charts. Wherever
the song is placed this month or the forthcoming month, is where we feel the
song should be.
14.
How do I send my works as an instrumentalist,
producer or sound engineer?
For a producer/sound engineer send your
works via email with the appropriate details of the song and act.
We wouldn’t want to hear empty beats,
except it is a soundtrack, a silent song like that of Avicii (Levels).
We would like to hear your best musical
works and we prefer they are going to be songs of artist you’ve produced, or
soundtracks you’ve made.
For an instrumentalist, we cannot just
listen to any sound that says it’s you. If you want to send us musical piece,
like a piano play as a pianist…we would love to still see you play. So it also
balls down to watching you live or watching a video of you.
We would accept links to your YouTube
videos, or an invitation to watch you play if we can honor it.
15.
Does the period we record and release the
song matter?
Yes, the period of release matters, even
though the period of recording might be over looked. A song can be recorded
2012, but made its debut release in 2014. We would see that song as a 2014
song.
We would only rank songs that were
released recently, and strictly stick to our singles/album by period policy.
16
I couldn’t make the payment with your payment
methods.
We believe this could be the
case in several occasions. Please kindly contact us via mail.
We would love most of our
interactions to be done via mail; that’s because your calls might not be picked
by your language speaking representative. But your mail is always redirected to
the appropriate language speaking representative. Don’t forget to add your
language tag.
